A 33-year-old woman died and her 40-year-old husband sustained injuries when a speeding truck crashed into their thatched house in Patamda on the outskirts of Jamshedpur. The woman, identified as Anna Mahato, was run over by the truck while brushing her teeth.

JAMSHEPDUR: A 33-year-old woman died, and her 40-year-old husband sustained injuries when a speeding truck crashed into their thatched house at Bangurda village in Patamda on the outskirts of Jamshedpur on Friday morning.
According to Abodh Kalindih, a local villager who was the first to arrive at the scene, the truck, which was reportedly heading towards Bengal, ran over the woman, identified as Anna Mahato, while she was brushing her teeth.

Further, due to the impact of the speed of the vehicle, the asbestos roof crashed on the people sleeping in the house," Kalindih added.
Sub-inspector Jaimangal Pandey said that the woman's husband, Sanatan, was trapped under the debris of the asbestos and suffered injuries.
The couple's two children, Riya (8) and Rohit (6), who were sleeping beside their father, narrowly escaped injuries. The injured woman was initially taken to the community health centre (CHC) in Macha for first-aid before being transferred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH) where she died.
The truck driver quickly fled the scene with the vehicle. The police have registered a case in this regard and have launched an investigation to locate the driver and the vehicle involved in the incident
