LUCKNOW: A woman suffering from mental illness allegedly killed her 15-month-old daughter by slitting her throat with a sharp object in Balrampur, according to police reports on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as 30-year-old Nadia, also attempted to take her own life by inflicting similar injuries on herself but was found alive and rushed to the hospital.
The incident happened on Monday evening in the Utraula area of the district.
"After getting information from the family's neighbours, a police team reached the spot and admitted the injured woman to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow, where her condition was stated to be critical," said Utraula SHO Sanjay Kumar Dubey.
