MUMBAI: Two on-duty uniformed police personnel have been booked for ‘negligence’ under IPC and suspended after their callous act led to the death of an ailing train commuter last month.
Railway police constable Vijay Khandekar and Maharashtra Security Force jawan Mahesh Andale had dumped the ailing
man, Sewri resident Allauddin Mujjahid (47), in the luggage compartment of a train instead of providing medical assistance.
“Mistaking him to be a drug addict, they left him in the luggage compartment,” said a police officer. The commuter was found dead in the compartment at Goregaon station the next day.
Mujjahid, on his way to his job as a salesman in a shop at Masjid, collapsed at Reay Road station on the Harbour line.
