IIT cancels session 2hrs after sending email invites
IIT-Bombay
MUMBAI: A session on Sanskrit shloka and meditation at IIT Bombay was cancelled within two hours of students receiving the email invites for it. The invites were sent to students by the Dean of international relations on Satuday at 5pm. Within two hours of the initial invite, at about 7 pm, the dean sent another email to all the students stating that the event had been cancelled as no prior approval was taken from the institute authorities.
It was stated at the beginning of the email invite that everyone, at one time or the other, felt a need for connecting better with oneself amidst the ever-increasing stress, anxiety, and fear in our activities.
The invite read that that the institute has been looking at options to help students overcome anxiety and stress. “There has been an increasing need for relieving stress through timetested processes such as Sanskrit shloka and mantra chanting. Besides, mantra Meditation has always been an integral part of our glorious Sanskriti, culture and is authentic and time-tested. We will be sharing the techniques and science with all (sic),” the email read.
