Drunk Kaimur BDO runs over 2 female cops in Bihar, held

SASARAM: The block development officer (BDO) of Chainpur, Kaimur district, was arrested in the early hours of Friday for allegedly driving under the influence of liquor and running over two women police officers.
According to the police, the incident occurred at a check post near Kewa village, Chainpur, on Thursday when the accused, Chandra Bhushan Gupta, was returning to his block headquarters in his car.
The injured police officers ASI Lovely and constable Arati Kumari were rushed to the Bhabua Sadar Hospital and were later transferred to the trauma centre in Varanasi.
"After Gupta was arrested, his private vehicle was also seized," Sawan Kumar, district magistrate, Kaimur, said. "The process for departmental action against the BDO had been initiated."
"The BDO was instructed to stop his vehicle at the check post. However, he pressed the accelerator and hit the two female police personnel. The other police officers at the checkpost chased Gupta and caught him in an inebriated state," he added.
