PUNE: Maharashtra’s former home minister Anil Deshmukh on Thursday alleged that “the state machinery” attempted to manipulate the viscera reports of the two software engineers, killed in the May 19 Porsche Taycan crash, by showing them positive for alcohol content so that the “blame for the accident could be shifted onto the victims”.
Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, however, dismissed Deshmukh’s claim as “completely irrelevant” and said the police had enough evidence to prove that the 17-year-old was behind the wheel when the high-end car hit the techies’ motorcycle.

Bid to manipulate techies’ viscera reports: Ex-home min

Deshmukh, who made this revelation on X (formerly Twitter), told TOI, “I have served the govt as home minister and my sources informed me that there was an attempt to mix alcohol in their viscera. This was aimed at shifting the blame of the accident onto the victims, who were riding a motorcycle, instead of the teenage driver.”
Everyone knew that the minor’s father, a city-based builder, had his son’s blood sample swapped with that of his wife at Sassoon General Hospital to show that the teenager was not drunk, the former minister said. “In a similar way, the state machinery tried to prove that the two deceased persons were drunk, but failed.”
The two techies, the police chief said, were riding their motorcycle correctly and they were not at fault. According to the police, the teenager was driving at a speed of 160 kmph at the time of the crash around 2.30 am at Kalyaninagar.

Following a post-mortem, forensic experts preserve viscera from internal organs for a chemical analysis of bodily fluids and tissues. The examination is conducted to determine the cause of death, or to detect the presence of any substance, such as drugs or poison, in the deceased person’s body.
