PUNE: Pune city crime branch on early Saturday morning detained the mother of the minor driver of the Porsche Taycan car for questioning from her Wadgaon Sheri bungalow.
A senior crime branch officer told TOI, "Our team will question the woman on two different cases -- one related to the destruction of the evidence in the Porsche car accident which claimed life of two techies and another one of abduction of the family car driver who was pressurized by the family members to own up the crime instead of the minor boy".
"We will question her if she had given blood at the Sassoon general hospital on May 19 instead of the minor boy for the blood sample report to detect the level of alcohol in the blood of the minor boy", the officer said.
Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar told TOI, "We have detained her and our team is questioning her. We will take a call on arresting her after recording her statement".
Police have arrested Dr Ajay Taware, Dr Shrihari Halnor and mortuary staffer of the Sassoon general hospital Ghatkamble Atul Ghatkamble for swapping the blood sample of the boy at the hospital after he was detained by the police following the accident.
Police have already arrested the boy's father and grandfather in the case of abduction.
The Porsche Taycan car had hit a motorcycle at Kalyaninagar killing two techies at 2.30 am on May 19. The boy, according to the police, had gone to two pubs before the accident and consumed drinks. Police have also recovered CCTV footage of one of the pubs. At one of the pubs, the boy paid Rs 48,000 bill.
