Sanitary workers protest delay in disbursing salary

Namakkal: Contract sanitary workers with the Rasipuram municipality on Wednesday protested the delay in issuing their salaries and boycotted work.

One of them told TOI that the municipality had outsourced 93 contract workers through SR Enterprises . “Our wage is 480 per day. We get 390 after deductions," he said.

Salaries were usually disbursed between the 8th and 10th of each month. But for the past few months, it was delayed beyond the 26th, putting financial burden on the workers.

Sanitation officer Selvaraj held discussions with the protesting workers. He said the municipality had paide salaries to SR Enterprises on time.tnn
