Inebriated man murders mother over minor argument in Kerala
T'PURAM: Maranalloor police arrested a 30-year-old man for murdering his mother by kicking on the chest over a minor argument at Koovalassery on Wednesday. The arrested has been identified as Biju Nair of Appu Nivas at Koovalassery near Maranalloor.
On Wednesday morning, neighbours found Jaya, 58, dead on her bed at her house. Soon the police were alerted, and a case was registered for unnatural death under Section 174 of CrPC.
Doctors spotted an internal injury on her chest during the postmortem. Her ribs were also found broken possibly by kicking or hitting strongly. This fueled the suspicion of police that she was murdered by her son as the neighbours reported that there was some quarrel between them the other night.
During questioning, initially Biju denied committing the crime, but later admitted that he had beaten her up and kicked her under the influence of alcohol. "The deceased got an amount through a chit fund and the accused wanted a share of it. Jaya was not willing to give as he was a drunkard. It annoyed him and in a sudden urge he beat her up and kicked on the chest and stomach several times," police said. Only Jaya and Biju, a daily-wage worker, were living at the house as her husband died years ago. Police remanded the accused after producing before a court.
