NEW DELHI: A loud cheer greeted Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari when he turned up at a public meeting at Rani Garden on Saturday. Since it was his birthday, a cake had also been ordered to celebrate the occasion.
Standing amid BJP flags, Tiwari began his speech by attacking chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for mocking his song “Rinkiya ke Papa”. “AAP is making memes of the song. But they should understand that Rinkiya in the song refers to daughters.By mocking the song, AAP and Kejriwal are demeaning the role of daughters and women in society,” he asserted.

Recently, Kejriwal, when asked for his views about the Delhi BJP president, had referred to Tiwari as a “good singer” who had rendered “Rinkiya ke Papa”. “I pity his (Kejriwal’s) intelligence. The girl child ratio is declining. At a time when Beti Bachao is trending in the country, he is mocking men for having daughters. Is it a curse to have a daughter?” Tiwari asked.
“The Centre has allocated Rs 40 lakh in each district of all states for investing in welfare projects for the girl child. However, not a penny has been used in Delhi by the AAP government,” said Tiwari.
Earlier in the day, Tiwari carried out a padyatra in South Ganesh Nagar. Even as he waved to people in the balconies, many in the crowd rushed to take a selfie with him. Tiwari said that he failed to understand how Kejriwal claimed that the last five years were well spent. “For four and a half years, Delhi government was just cursing the Modi government and lieutenant governor for not letting AAP work. How come everything has become so positive all of a sudden?” he asked.
Taking a dig at the Rs 66,000 crore budget of Delhi government, Tiwari said, “Despite such a huge budget, Delhi couldn’t get new flyovers, university, Wi-Fi, quality water, roads, among other things.”
