“I have been doing theatre since so many years, but the kind of recognition and love this play gave me and that too in a short span of time is phenomenal,” says an overjoyed Juhi Babbar Soni who is set to perform the 100th show of With Love, Aap Ki Saiyaara at an auditorium in Bandra this Friday.
Talking about the play which she has also written and directed, Juhi tells us, “It’s the story of Saiyaara, but the play is an amalgamation of a lot of emotions that women go through and therefore it is not just one woman who is resonating with it.
I think there is something for everybody to take away from and not just women. It touches upon subjects that are women oriented but then also topics which are applicable to the entire society. Saiyaara is not a man hater she does appreciate the wonderful men in her life.”
About how the audience has resonated with the play, Juhi tells us, “I have had people in their 50s come and say I want my son and daughter to watch this play. I have had people come hug me and cry. I am very over-whelmed with these reactions. One show led me to another show as people wanted this play to reach out to other people. We performed at various universities, for various women organisation. We performed at 35 plus cities and 5 shows in London. Log bulate rahe aur hum jaate rahe.”

Juhi has also received a lot of appreciation from folks from the industry. She shares, “There’s hardly anyone who has not seen the play (laughs). From Javed (Akhtar) uncle, Shabana (Azmi) aunty, Anupam (Kher) uncle they all loved it. People like Vishal Bhardwaj ji, Madhur Bhandarkar, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal (Mehta) have also seen the play and they all liked it. So, for the 100th show I have invited 100 women achievers from different fields. I am really looking forward to their reaction.”
