Rahul Gandhi targets PM, CM; says youth of India is afraid
ALL-OUT ATTACK: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said she got late in joining Rahul Gandhi at Hauz Qazi because AAP and BJP built no roads
NEW DELHI: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that while India’s youth demanded employment, progress and development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi got them beaten up and shot by police.
While canvassing for Alka Lamba, the party candidate in Chandni Chowk, Gandhi told a gathering at Hauz Qazi that if India and Delhi weren’t developed as manufacturing hubs of the world and didn’t provide employment to the youth, then violence and hate would soon be 10 times greater than the current levels.
He said that in another year, a never-heard-before voice would emerge and “ask Narendra Modi to stand aside and give employment to the youth. Only then will India get back on the right track”.
He added: “The only challenge before India is employment generation and, for this, we’ll have to dislodge both (Delhi CM Arvind) Kejriwal and Narendra Modi. This can only be done if Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians stick together.”
Gandhi claimed that Modi spent all his time creating divisions. “And, then, he claims to be a deshbhakt,” he said. “Kejriwal and Modi teach us patriotism. Who are they teaching us deshbhakti? The country elected them to work and they failed completely.” He claimed that Modi’s entire politics fed on the oxygen of unemployment.
Taking a dig at finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he said her 2.5-hour-long Budget speech was full of lies. “There are only two people who can speak endless lies. They are Kejriwal and Modi,” he said.

Gandhi said the people of India could get angry with each other, but there was no hate. “There is a difference between gussa and nafrat. There was no hate between Hindus and Muslims between 2004 and 2014. Then Narendra Modi comes from Gujrat and spreads the poison everywhere.”
He also raked up the controversy around PM’s degree. “While Modi teaches kids on how to clear exams through events such as Pariksha Pe Charcha, he also refuses to show his own degree to the nation,” he said.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who got delayed in joining her brother at Hauz Qazi, said she was late because BJP-AAP made no new roads. “If I had taken Sheila ji ki metro, I would have arrived in 10 minutes,” she said.
Vadra said that Delhites had an important decision to make. “Delhi is India’s heart. You fought for independence and helped create the Constitution. This is a garden, you are the gardener and all types of flowers blossom here. This government wants to destroy the garden,” she said. “Earlier, we had slogans like jai jawan, jai kisan. Today we have goli maro... khoon se tilak karo.”
She also presented a comparative report card of Congress and AAP and claimed that the former had outperformed on all parameters.
Earlier, at a gathering in east Delhi’s Kondli, Gandhi claimed that he hadn’t uttered a single lie in his 15-year political career. “You will not find a single lie in Rahul Gandhi’s speeches. But, listen to Modi ji or Kejriwal and you will find lies. Don’t even listen to Amit Shah” he said. “The atmosphere has worsened in the last five years. What is the reason? Many will say it’s Modi or BJP. I will say the biggest reason is that the youth of India is unable to see the right path. He is afraid. He is afraid of unemployment,” Gandhi said.
