Sharjeel Imam’s arrest foiled Arvind Kejriwal’s plans: BJP
NEW DELHI: BJP chief Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday accused Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal of sending a party worker to fire at Shaheen Bagh when his plans were allegedly foiled with the arrest of Sharjeel Imam, in whose favour the CM had made a political move.
The remarks came in the wake of Shaheen Bagh shooter Kapil Baisla being identified as an AAP worker in the course of investigation by Delhi Police.

With a series of tweets, Nadda launched an attack on Kejriwal, accusing the AAP chief of playing with the nation’s security. “People of Delhi and the country have seen the dirty face of the Aam Aadmi Party. For political longing, Kejriwal and his leaders sold the country’s security. Earlier, Kejriwal used to insult the Army and advocate for terrorists, but now AAP’s relations with those who carry out terrorist activities have also come to light,” the BJP chief tweeted.
Days before Delhi goes to polls, the identification of Baisla as an AAP worker has triggered a political war. On Tuesday, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who was seen with Baisla in the pictures recovered from his phone by police, sought a fair probe into the case. Singh questioned the need to disclose the photographs to the media because investigation was still incomplete. He called it a conspiracy by BJP to defame AAP and influence voters.
Nadda said he wants to make it clear to Kejriwal that this country is bigger than any election, any government. “Those playing with the security of the country will not be forgiven. Kejriwal and his entire team have been exposed. The people of Delhi will give a suitable reply,” he stated on Twitter.
The BJP chief claimed the entire country has seen the “photos of AAP MLA and Delhi minister Imran Hussain with a radical terrorist organisation, People’s Front of India”. “The entire country knows how much damage the activities of PFI have done to the security and pride of the country, but it is surprising that Kejriwal is standing with them,” the BJP chief added.

Attacking Kejriwal and his party for “protecting the tukde-tukde gang”, Nadda tweeted, “Kejriwal and his party are protecting the gang who shouted slogans to break India. They made moves in favour of Sharjeel Imam. But when Delhi Police caught him and their plans were foiled, Kejriwal used an AAP worker for firing.”
Countering Nadda’s remarks, Kejriwal said that he doesn’t know which party Baisla belongs to. “Strictest punishment should be given to him. If he is connected to AAP, he should be given twice the punishment. There should not be any compromise with the nation’s security. I want to tell the home minister not to do any politics over the nation’s security,” he added.
