My mum is the reason I took up the role with Prem: Manvitha

My mum is the reason I took up the role with Prem: Manvitha
The actor takes a slice from her own life for her next film that explores the trauma of abandoning a parent
Manvitha is back with a new film with a message. It takes a slice from the her life – when she cared for her unwell mother. In fact, her mother is the reason she said yes to a cameo. The yet-untitled project, a family drama, by Nagesh Kartik, sees Tabla Nani and newbie Sanjay in lead roles.
Manvitha pairs opposite Prem, who essays the role of a businessman. On her first collaboration with the Lovely Star, she says, “Prem is one of the most charming actors in the industry, and it was fun collaborating with him.”
A story that struck a chord
The movie delves into a father-son relationship and explores how aged parents are oftentimes abandoned. Manvitha comes out strongly against this trend, “The film explores how abandoning parents is traumatic. While it is a cameo, Prem and I are narrators, and the film begins and culminates with us. Tabla Nani sir is talented, and has a way with dialogues.”
A daughter’s journey
“The story is relevant to the present generation, where some don’t think twice before abandoning their parents. Parents worry about their age, and the uncaring treatment meted out by their children. When my mother suffered a kidney ailment last year, I faced several challenges. She had become forgetful, kept repeating questions. We, as children, must understand that it is not them, but the medication’s effect, and their age. As our parents grow old, they become children, and we must care for them. Abandoning them is not the answer. The movie has a deep message for society, as parental bonds are universal. This story resonates with all.”
Fulfilling a mother’s wish
“My mum was impressed by Puneeth sir’s Raajakumara which explores
children abandoning parents. She always wanted me to act in such a film. When the makers approached me, I didn’t think twice. My mum is the reason I took up this role,” she concludes.
