We’d earlier reported that Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana will be remade in Bollywood, with
Akshay Kumar playing the lead. We now have an update – the film will have
Amitabh Bachchan playing the transgender’s role, which was portrayed to perfection by
Sarath Kumar in the Tamil version.
A source says, “The film has been titled
Laaxmi Bomb, and shoot has already begun in Mumbai. While Lawrence is directing the film in Hindi as well, he’s roped in Akshay Kumar to play the role he’s now become synonymous with – Raghava.
The makers were looking at a top star to play the role of a revenge-seeking ghost of a transgender; this part was played by Sarath Kumar in the Tamil original and he was appreciated for pulling it off with conviction. Now, they’ve cast Amitabh Bachchan in it.”
Kiara Advani plays the female lead, while Vetri has been roped in as the cinematographer.
