Director Nag Ashwin's ambitious mythological sci-fi film, 'Kalki 2898 AD', has taken theatres by storm since its release on June 27. Featuring a star studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, the film's impressive box office performance has been making headlines globally.
According to Sacnilk reports on its fifth day in theatres, 'Kalki 2898 AD' amassed an impressive Rs 34.6 crore across various Indian languages, bringing its total earnings in India to Rs 343.6 crore.
The film, released in multiple languages, has seen the highest occupancy in Telugu, with an overall 47.18% occupancy on Monday, July 1, 2024. This is followed by Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam versions on the same day.
With a staggering budget of Rs 600 crore, 'Kalki 2898 AD' is touted to be the most expensive film produced in the country. According to the film's team, it joined the Rs 555 crore club within just four days of its global release, showcasing its immense worldwide appeal and success.

Set 6000 years after the Mahabharata, the film draws inspiration from Hindu scriptures. Prabhas stars as Bhairava, a bounty hunter determined to gain entry into a place called "Complex." Deepika Padukone plays Sumathi, also known as Sum-80, a mother carrying an unborn child destined to liberate the world from dark forces. Amitabh Bachchan portrays the immortal Ashwatthama, who vows to protect Sumathi. Kamal Haasan takes on the role of Supreme Leader Yaskin, the primary antagonist.

The film’s unique blend of mythology and science fiction, combined with its star-studded cast and epic storyline, has captured the imagination of audiences worldwide. Nag Ashwin’s visionary direction and the film’s high production values contribute to its rapid rise in box office collections.
