The mission of the Moncrief Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is to ensure the delivery of comprehensive prevention, consultative and treatment-focused behavioral health services of the highest quality to all Moncrief beneficiaries to reduce the negative impact of mental illness and to maximize readiness of the force.

Joint Behavioral Health Service / MULTI-D Team A

Located on 7th floor, bldg. 4500
Provides direct behavioral health treatment to active duty service members assigned to Fort Jackson, SC. As available provides behavioral health treatment to adult family members and retired service members.

Provides behavioral health services to the following personnel: trainees, active duty service members, TDY personnel assigned for training. As available provides behavioral health treatment to adult family members and retired service members.

Provides direct behavioral health treatment services for children, adolescents, and family members of active duty service members. Support behavioral health consultation to Primary Care Managers, Schools, Community Agencies, and other mental health providers.
Family Advocacy Program (FAP)

Located on 7th floor, bldg. 4500
Provides behavioral health services to active duty service members and their families involved in alleged and substantiated cases of child abuse/neglect and domestic abuse. Services include 24-hour emergency response service, identification, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, rehabilitation, follow-up. FAP also provides commanders with consultative services on family matters which may affect unit combat readiness.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Located on 7th floor, bldg. 4500
Provides an intermediate level of care that serves as a “step-up” from outpatient behavioral healthcare when the clinical need for more intensive treatment is warranted, and a “step-down” from inpatient treatment to a less restrictive care environment when clinically indicated. The program is 5hrs a day, Monday-Friday for 5 consecutive weeks. The IOP Core Components include: group therapy, individual therapy, medication management, psycho-educational classes, and other adjunctive therapies/interventions such as nutrition counseling, financial counseling, mindfulness training, yoga, and anger and sleep management groups. In addition, each patient continues to receive weekly individual therapy with their current therapist. Following conclusion of the program, each patient is enrolled in a 1hr aftercare IOP group for four weeks.
What TRICARE Covers
TRICARE covers medically and psychologically necessary mental health and substance use care. This includes both inpatient and outpatient care.
