We bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries

Über uns

charity: water is a non-profit bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Since 2006, we've funded more than 154,000 water projects in 29 developing countries. When complete, these projects will provide clean, safe drinking water for more than 18.6 million people. 703 million people don’t have access to clean drinking water, that's one in ten of us. Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. The good news: there are simple solutions, from deep drilled wells to water filtration systems. With the help of 1 million+ donors and individual fundraisers, we've raised over $796M for both water and operations, forming a strong force against the water crisis. Join us!

The future looks bright. Just ask Hudson, Curren, Miles, and Betty, our 2024 Class of Tiny Heroes! These young movers and shakers are changing the world one act of generosity at a time. See their stories and meet dozens of Tiny Heroes alumni at https://lnkd.in/eBUgkFzY. And speaking of heroes: Huge thanks to our friends at Rylee & Cru and Humble Brands, Inc., who helped celebrate this year’s class by funding clean water in their honor. We’re so grateful to do this essential work alongside passionate brands, kids, and supporters like you 💛

A young mom with a six-year-old son, Mary lives in rural Malawi. Until recently, she woke as early as 4 a.m. to walk to the river for water. Each day, she tried to get three to five jerry cans — which ate up most of her waking hours. “I didn’t have time to think about or imagine [the future] because most of the things we wanted needed water,” Mary told us. “Because we had this problem, we couldn’t think about any other things. We could only think about water.” Now? Dreams and ambitions have begun to take root. With clean water close at hand, Mary can reallocate time to more fulfilling activities — like farming sesame seeds. She used some of the income to purchase a goat and hopes to one day have a whole herd. For now, she’s working on a new house for her family. She’s already managed to mold bricks and when we last visited, the walls of Mary’s new home were beginning to take shape. And her future? That’s taking shape too, thanks to the transformational impact of clean water 💛

Lemonade has donated US$2 Million to customer causes in its eighth ‘2024 Giveback. This year’s charitable event marks more than $10 million donated to 86 organisations since inception, impacting millions of people globally. “Social impact is a core pillar of who we are as Lemonade and has been since the very beginning,” said Shai Wininger, Lemonade cofounder and President. “We believe every child should have access to quality education, driving our mission to create safe and healthy learning environments where students can reach their full potential,” said Bradley Wisdom, Chief Global Advancement Officer at Pencils of Promise. “We’re honoured to partner with Lemonade and their community to bring clean drinking water to over 28,000 people since 2017,” said scott harrison, who founded charity: water. Transparency has always been important to us — and we know it’s important to you, too. That’s why, from the very beginning, we’ve used 100% of every donation to fund clean water and have worked hard to receive the highest grades available for financial accountability. You might have seen our Transparency Tuesday posts on Instagram Stories over the past few months — and might have even had one of your own questions answered. Now, we’re excited to start bringing this content directly to your feed. Today’s question is a big one: Why don’t governments solve this problem? Watch the video to hear our team’s take. Have a question you’d like to see answered? Keep an eye on our Instagram Stories — we’ll be taking questions there for future posts in a few weeks! #Transparency #Accountability #Nonprofitsector

When a community gets access to clean water, everything changes. Just ask the families who call Peter Village home. Within two years, they transformed their community in Zimbabwe with latrines, handwashing stations, gleaming kitchens, dish racks, and a vibrant health club. It all started with clean water. And clean water starts with you. Thank you 💛
