The Government has required the Regulator to undertake the following inquiries under Part 4 of the Economic Regulator Act 2009 in relation to prescribed bodies that operate in the Tasmanian electricity supply industry (a prescribed body is an agency, Government Business Enterprise, statutory authority, State owned company or Local Government body):

Review of Aurora Energy’s competitive behaviour and pricing policies

In August 2019, the Treasurer directed the Regulator to inquire into Aurora Energy’s competitive behaviour and pricing policies by conducting a prescribed body inquiry under the Economic Regulator Act.

TasNetworks’ Pricing of Infrastructure as a Service Activities

In December 2017 the Treasurer issued Terms of Reference under the Economic Regulator Act for a Prescribed Body Inquiry to be conducted. The Terms of Reference required the Regulator to investigate and report on the pricing of TasNetworks' wholesale IT Infrastructure as a Service Activities in relation to the Government's Networking Tasmania III panel.

The Regulator's Final Report was provided to the Treasurer on 30 April 2018.​
