"Roy’s been a constant in her life since she first bonded with Hayley in those early days, so it's probably been about 16 years now that Roy’s been a father figure to her. Their relationship has grown on trust and honesty, and I think the fact that she's broken that honesty, even though it is to protect somebody."

Opening up on whether Roy can get over it she explained "he can't quite see past that". The ITV star said she is in a hard situation of protecting her blood but equally supporting a person she loves nearly, adding that it is a "typical Carla conflict of interests here".

Roy briefly had a glimmer of hope following the new evidence coming to light which they thought would secure him bail leaving Carla overjoyed to bring him back to the cobbles.

However, his hopes were dashed and later, during a chat with Carla, he discovered Bobby had lied and his friend knew.
