We were delighted to attend the ribbon cutting for El Segundo High School’s and El Segundo Unified School District's new Band and CBI Building. Spanning 9,100 square feet, this modern facility includes a flexible band and music area tailored for their marching band, with dedicated spaces for instrument storage and concessions. The CBI classroom will teach vital life skills to special education students. We are eager to see this project serve as a valuable resource for its community. 🎵🏫 It was a great ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the new El Segundo High School Band and Community-Based Instruction Building and an exciting addition to the High School.  The 10,000 square-foot building will house the band program, concessions, and community-based instruction program. The new building integrates contemporary design elements with the campus aesthetic, providing much-needed space for music programs and creating an inviting gateway for students and visitors during football games. The 2018 Bond Measure ES has truly transformed the landscape of the EL SEGUNDO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT to build a better educational environment and education for all students. Congratulations ESHS – we can’t wait to see the Marching Band make their first grand entrance onto the football stadium! 🎺🏈 Go Eagles! As always, thanks to our project partners NAC Architects, Telacu Construction Management and The Nazarian Group. Special thanks to lead DSA Project Inspector Brian McCarthy of the Pringle Group. #esusd #eshs #schoolconstruction #dsa #dsainspector #buildingschools #elsegundo #pringlegroup

Statistics show that the highest predictor of lifelong success is early intervention and education. While early childhood education is crucial to positive lifelong development, where should it occur? Early childhood education is delivered in a wide range of environments and is often provided by school districts for students in their district. Sometimes those preschool rooms are part of a neighborhood elementary school, and sometimes students are served in a center dedicated to early learning curriculum. These are both school district run programs, so there should be no differences, right? Nope! In fact, there are several differences between programs within a neighborhood school versus early learning centers, serving students five and under. Project of the Week: This two-story orthopaedic treatment and rehabilitation center is directly connected to the Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates existing Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Situated along the front of the building are waiting lounges with ample natural light and entrances to clinical and rehab pods. These spaces can be seen as patients and visitors arrive at the main entrance, allowing them to quickly orient themselves with the layout of the building. The exterior of this building was designed to complement and enhance the design of the adjacent surgery center. Both buildings illicit an industrial feel giving a nod to the history of the Youngstown area while bringing in the warmth of the surrounding meadow landscaping to invite patients in. This was Phase II of a larger project which unified all YOA's patient services under one roof. NAC is thrilled to announce the completion of the University of Puget Sound Campus Development Plan, which resulted from an incredible collaborative effort with the University!   After meetings with the university constituents with a special focus on enhancing the success of students, each project in the Plan will bolster the student experience - from creating the Center for Inclusive Excellence in a highly visible, symbolic and accessible location, to a concentrated zone of student support in a newly formed Student Success Center. The Plan also creates open space improvements and indoor-outdoor connections which is essential to providing students, faculty and staff with a variety of outdoor spaces for gathering, learning, studying, socializing, teaching and recreation. These efforts have resulted in advancing excellence! Berger Partnership

Recently, NAC team members were honored to join the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County and NAMI OHIO in celebrating the official groundbreaking for Dani’s Place in Toledo, Ohio. This was such a wonderful day for the Toledo community and the organizations that have been supporting the development of this life changing facility. The event kicked off with an introduction by Scott A. Sylak, the Executive Director of MHRSB of Lucas County. The current MHRSB Board Chair, Reverend Dr. Otis J. Gordon, Jr. led the Invocation. Speeches then followed from NAC’s own Andrew von Lohr, Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services Chief of Staff John Annarino, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, NAMI Ohio Executive Director, Luke Russell and NAMI Director of Housing, Raven Oglesby. The event closed with Dani’s parents Jeff and Donna Heck, and their son Joshua Leedy sharing the touching story of Danielle Leedy’s life, 33 Forever, Inc., and their dream for her spirit to live on helping others just like her. After a five-year effort to get this facility off the ground, it was evident how important this facility is for both future residents and families alike. With the breadth of partners, community leaders, government, and funding partners such as the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, MHRSB of Lucas County, NAMI Ohio, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), City of Toledo, fundraising and generous donations, Dani’s Place is on its way to finally becoming a reality! We are so excited to see this project come to fruition and start changing lives in Toledo, OH and the surrounding 20+ counties it will serve. This project was supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award totaling $2 Million with 30 percentage financed with non-governmental sources. The contents are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the official views of, nor an endorsement, by HRSA, HHS, or the U.S. Government.
