The U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy has issued firearm violence in America a public health crisis in a landmark advisory. This urgent call to action emphasizes the need for critical research investments to understand and prevent firearm violence, particularly in cases involving domestic violence. At the National Domestic Violence Hotline, we recognize the critical importance of policies like Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) and Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs) in safeguarding individuals at risk. By building distance between firearms and those who may harm others, we can create safer environments for victims and survivors. Learn more: https://bit.ly/45DvK4q #FirearmViolence #DomesticViolence

Respondents explained how their current or former partners prevented them from using abortion medication. Learn more in our Reproductive Coercion and Abuse report. We've also created a social media toolkit, designed to help you bring awareness and amplify this important message. Cyberspace can be both a safe and dangerous neighborhood at the same time. Many of the platforms, devices, and apps we use for communication and entertainment with trusted individuals are also hunting grounds for predators and abusers. That’s why staying safe online is crucial. It is scary to experience technology-facilitated abuse. If you have experienced this or have questions, another resource is the CCRI Image Abuse Helpline (1-844-878-2274), which is the only service in the U.S. specifically dedicated to image-based sexual abuse. This post was written in partnership with Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, an organization dedicated to combating online abuses that threaten civil rights and civil liberties. #TechnologyBasedAbuse #ImageBasedAbuse #StayingSafeOnline #DomesticViolence
