Launched in 2013, Latvian platform Discovercars.com has grown rapidly to become a big player in the car hire market. It operates in 145 countries worldwide.
Its worrying two-star customer service rating suggests you should look elsewhere for car rental, no matter how appealing the prices appear.

Car hire broker | Which? Recommended Provider? | Customer score |
Discovercars.com | No | 64% |
Customer score is based on a combination of overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the company
Despite receiving a respectable customer score of 64%, and being known for its low prices, Discovercars.com sits at the bottom of our table of car hire brokers and was the only company to receive poor two-star ratings.
The biggest problem seems to have been customer service. When something went wrong, the company was either ‘uncontactable’ or not particularly helpful. One customer told us that they informed Discovercars.com of their delayed flight, yet when they arrived at the rental desk the company hadn't been informed and had ‘let our car go’. They then faced a ‘fight with Discovercars.com to get our money back’.
Clarity of information about the provider also scored two stars, which chimes with the several customers who told us they were given incorrect collection details. ‘We stood waiting outside the airport in 35 degrees waiting for a shuttle that never arrived’, complained one disgruntled customer. Another was given the wrong name of the car hire provider.
Its other two-star rating was for satisfaction with the car hire provider – the company that actually gives you the keys. It works with Goldcar, for example – the lowest-scoring provider in our survey for more than a decade.
No. It’s cheap, but it partners with poor providers and if something goes wrong you’ll face two-star customer service. There are better car hire brokers out there, especially Zest Car Rental.
