Kangana Ranaut, Varun Dhawan condemn ‘cowardly’ attack on pilgrims in J & K; Pakistani terrorist group claims responsibility

On Sunday, India woke up to a piece of horrific news: A bus carrying a bunch of Hindu pilgrims plunged into a deep gorge in Reasi, Jammu & Kashmir. The bus was accosted by a group of terrorists while en route from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra near Teryath village in the Poni region. The terrorists opened fire, taking down many victims before retreating into the dense forest.

Many celebs have mourned the demise of the pilgrims and called out the terror attack. Taking to X on Sunday, ‘Queen’ actress Kangana Ranaut condemned the attack. “I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on the pilgrims in Reasi, Jammu & Kashmir. I pray for the departed and hope for the swift recovery of the injured. Om Shanti.”

‘Kashmir Files’ star Anupam Kher penned an emotional post, mourning the slaughter of the pilgrims, some of which, were kids. “ Angry, Pained, and Saddened by the cowardly attack on pilgrims in Reasi. Jammu! May Almighty give the loved ones of victims the strength to bear the pain and loss. Prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured” wrote the veteran actor.

‘Bhediya’ star Varun Dhawan also paid homage to the terror attack victims. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the ‘Main Tera Hero’, actor wrote, “Devastated by the horrific attack on the innocent pilgrims of Reasi. I strongly condemn this cowardly terrorist attack. Praying for the departed souls. My condolences to the victims and their families. Om Shanti. “ read the post.

‘Ek Villain’ actor Riteish Deshmukh also condemned the merciless terror attack. “Heartbroken & devastated with the visuals of the Reasi terror attack. Prayers with the victims and families, “ he wrote on X.

Pakistan-backed terror group The Resistance Front (TRF), has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. In a statement, the TRF threatened additional attacks targeting "tourists and non-locals,’’ and threatened that this attack was only a start. A large-scale search operation is underway to locate the terrorists. Security measures in the area have been intensified, and sources from the Home Ministry told India Today that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been assigned to investigate the incident. The attack resulted in the death of 10 pilgrims and left over 30 others injured.
