    Ex-Baylor student sues school, says gang raped by football players

    A former Baylor University student has sued the college with allegations that she was drugged and gang raped by football players while the school turned a blind eye to sexual assaults by athletes on campus. The lawsuit filed on Tuesday in a U.S. district court in the central Texas city of Waco is the latest in a series of lawsuits, allegations and convictions for sexual assaults over the past few years at the university, the world's largest Baptist college.

    Garcia moving on from Masters win at Byron Nelson

    Muguruza survives day of shocks in Rome, Kerber out

    Garbine Muguruza emerged as a favorite to win the Italian Open after beating Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko to reach the third round after world number one Angelique Kerber had earlier bowed out to Estonian qualifier Anett Kontaveit. Spaniard Muguruza, the third seed, will need to sharpen up though after enduring a terrible start against 50th ranked teenager Ostapenko before the reigning French Open champion flicked the switch and won 2-6 6-2 6-1.

    Former MotoGP champion Hayden hit by car in Italy

    American former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden was taken to hospital on Wednesday after being struck by a car while training on his bicycle along Italy's Adriatic coast, the World Superbike series said. Its official website (www.worldsbk.com) said the 35-year-old, who rides for the Red Bull Honda team, was hit while training near the east coast resort of Rimini following a race at Imola.

    Sharapova vows to 'rise up again' after French Open snub

    Maria Sharapova said on Wednesday she remains fully committed to making a successful comeback from her doping ban following a decision by the French Open to deny her a wild card entry. Sharapova was widely expected to be fast-tracked into the year's second grand slam tournament, which she has won twice, but the French Tennis Federation (FFT) took the unexpected decision on Tuesday to refuse her entry.

    Derby winner Always Dreaming gets fourth post for Preakness

    Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming drew the fourth post on Wednesday for Saturday's 142nd running of the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore where he will seek the second jewel of U.S. thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown. The Todd Pletcher-trained colt, undefeated in four starts this year as a three-year-old, was rated an odds-on 4-5 morning line favorite after the draw for the 10-horse field in the 1-3/16 mile race at Pimlico.

    Nadal through to last-16 in Rome after Almagro injury

    Rafael Nadal eased into the last-16 of the Italian Open on Tuesday when his second-round opponent Nicolas Almagro retired after sustaining a knee injury early in the first set. Nadal, who is the clear tournament favorite and looks to be in the form of his life on clay this season, raced into a 3-0 lead before Spanish compatriot Almagro felt his left knee with less than half an hour played.

    Gisele claims Brady suffered concussion last season

    Gisele Bundchen, the supermodel wife of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, said her husband suffered a concussion last season and in other years. Bundchen, during an interview Wednesday on "CBS This Morning," was asked by Charlie Rose of her thoughts on Brady's plans that he wants to play into his mid-40s and whether she wants him to retire from football.

    Boston Celtics win NBA draft lottery, Lakers second

    Four years ago, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett played their final games for the Celtics. A month later, they were traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a massive deal that involved multiple first-round picks going to Boston. On Tuesday, the Celtics reaped the ultimate reward of acquiring a first overall pick by winning the NBA draft lottery. It is the first time Boston will select first since the lottery began in 1985.
