‘Tap the scrap’ seems to be Tata Steel’s mantra as the company aims to green its India operations by 2030. In a country that’s facing a deficit in ferrous scrap, Tata Steel has put high stakes on its steel-recycling business to accelerate the transition to a circular economic model for steel in India.

Steel is often referred to as the perfect ‘circular material’ as it can be recycled infinitely without losing any of its properties. And India’s largest steelmaker by revenue is looking to exploit this quality of the hard metal to accelerate its decarbonisation journey.
