    Petrol sales up 4%, diesel 1% in June

In Mumbai, ATF reached Rs 89,908.30 per kl. Meanwhile, commercial LPG prices for hotels and restaurants were cut by Rs 30 per 19-kg cylinder to Rs 1,646.

      Govt hikes windfall tax on crude petroleum to Rs 6,800 per tonne

      The government has increased the windfall tax on domestically produced crude oil to Rs 6,800 per tonne from Rs 4,900 per tonne, effective from April 4. This tax, implemented as Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED), aims to regulate the petroleum industry and ensure the prioritization of domestic fuel over exports. Notably, the export duty on diesel, petrol, and ATF will remain at zero.

      From March 1, 2024, the prices of 19 Kg commercial LPG gas cylinders increased by Rs 25 in major metros. In Delhi, the new price is Rs 1795, Mumbai Rs 1,749, Kolkata Rs 1,911, and Chennai Rs 1,960.50. Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines also rose, reaching Rs 1,01,397/Kl in Delhi, Rs 1,10,297/Kl in Kolkata, Rs 94,809/Kl in Mumbai, and Rs 1,05,399/Kl in Chennai. IOC, BPCL, and HPCL, adjust these prices monthly based on the preceding month's international averages.

Passengers booking Indigo flights will have to pay a fuel charge per sector, with higher charges for longer distances. This is the first time since 2018 that the airline has imposed a fuel surcharge, which was gradually removed when fuel prices decreased.
