    The Calcutta High Court has directed the West Bengal government to ensure the safe return of displaced victims of alleged post-poll violence by Tuesday. A Division Bench, headed by Justice Harish Tandon, reviewed the situation and numerous petitions were submitted. The court ordered the displaced people to be sent back to their homes by next Tuesday and ordered increased police surveillance in affected areas to prevent recurrence of violence.

    A division bench headed by Justice Harish Tandon reviewed the situation with numerous petitions being submitted in the court and ordered the police to be more active in helping the displaced. "There are certain locations where the houses were vandalised. There were several other complaints of post-poll violence... CAPF was scheduled to stay till June 21. The Court has extended the presence of hearing till next Wednesday," Priyanka Tibrewal, the lawyer fighting for the displaced, said.

If not, why were these people not allowed to meet the Governor despite prior permission," the court questioned. The police, in its response, said that Adhikari had gone to Raj Bhavan earlier also and he was never stopped. However, Adhikari did not inform about the total number of people accompanying him yesterday. Justice Amrita Sinha directed Adhikari to take fresh permission from Bose's office and take the victims to the Raj Bhavan as yesterday's permission had expired.
