    Arvind Kejriwal sent to 3-day CBI custody in Delhi excise policy case

    Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has sent AAP supremo and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to three-day Central Bureau of Investigation remand in connection with the Excise policy case. Kejriwal has been jailed since April for money laundering and is under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate. The Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 was retracted in July 2022.

    Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, following permission granted by the Rouse Avenue Court. He was brought before Special Judge Amitabh Rawat for formal procedures. The arrest comes after earlier questioning at Tihar Jail and precedes the CBI's move to seek custody from a Delhi court. The Delhi High Court, on a vacation bench led by Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, criticized a trial court's bail order as hasty, halting its implementation pending further review under Section 439(2) of the CrPC.

    Last December, the court issued a warrant against Gandhi. Subsequently, the Congress leader halted his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amethi on February 20, appeared in the court, and was granted bail. The complaint was filed on August 4, 2018, against Gandhi for his alleged objectionable comments against Shah made at a press conference in Bengaluru in May of that year during the Karnataka elections.

He cited the suspension of his passport by Indian authorities as a factor contributing to his current situation.

      A special court in Pune acquitted three main accused in the Narendra Dabholkar murder case after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to establish their involvement. The court sentenced two shooters to life imprisonment and fined them ₹5 lakh each. The acquitted individuals include Virendrasingh Tawde, Sajiv Punalekar, and Vikram Bhave. The court observed that while these individuals were not the masterminds behind the crime, there is evidence of someone else orchestrating it.
