Three Theatre Command bases identified, Military Affairs Dept working to integrate forces for future wars
Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed progress on creating Theatre Commands as the Defence Ministry selected Lucknow, Jaipur, and Thiruvananthapuram as headquarters locations. The plans include setting up Western Theatre in Jaipur, Northern Theatre in Lucknow, and Maritime Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram to address threats and enhance joint culture and work ethic.

India and Bangladesh strengthened defence ties with new naval contracts
India and Bangladesh have strengthened their defence ties through a new deal signed after Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina's visit to India. The Bangladesh Navy contracted India's Garden Reach Shipbuilding and Engineers (GRSE) for an 800-tonne oceangoing tug, funded by Indian credit. GRSE also recently signed a deal for a dredger. The tug will aid in towing, berthing, and rescue operations, and can handle harsh sea conditions. The nations also agreed on further cooperation in maritime security, space, and counterterrorism.

Major General VT Mathew takes over as General Officer Commanding of Karnataka, Kerala sub area
The General Officer is an alumnus of Sainik School Kazakkotam in Thiruvananathapuram, National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was commissioned into 11 MADRAS Regiment in December 1988. "In his 35 years of meritorious service the General Officer has held various important instructional, staff and UN peace keeping appoints during his service. He has been on UN Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC) as Military Observer and was also the Chief Operational Officer, Force HQ UNISFA, Sudan," it stated.

N. Korea fires two short-range ballistic missiles, one fails
North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles, with one launch failing, South Korea's military reported Monday. The launches followed North Korea's warning of "fatal consequences" after joint military exercises by South Korea, Japan, and the US. North Korea sends 600 more trash balloons over border, South says
North Korea sent 600 balloons carrying trash into South Korea, causing anger in the country.
