    116 killed in stampede at Hathras 'satsang'. A grim history of stampedes at religious events

    At least 116 devotees, mostly women and children, were killed and several others were injured on Tuesday in a stampede at the end of a satsang, a religious gathering led by Narayan Sakaar Vishwa Hari, also known as 'Bhole Baba', in Sikandra Rao town of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The state government has ordered an FIR to be filed against the event organizers and announced that significant action will be taken against them. Additionally, a probe has been initiated to investigate the cause of the tragedy.

Additionally, the Railway Ministry is establishing a holding area for 15,000 people, complete with toilets and a temporary ticketing center. Vaishnaw emphasized preparations for accommodating 1.5 million devotees. President Draupadi Murmu is also expected to visit. Previously, thousands attended Snana Purnima at the Jagannath Temple, where deities underwent ceremonial baths.
