    More women must let off STEAM

    India's STEM education landscape is uneven with women constituting 42.3% of STEM students. Only 16.6% of STEM faculty in Indian universities are women.

    Attrition for MBA campus talent highest across degrees; employee turnover among campus hires drops in 2023 vs 2022, survey shows

    A survey by Deloitte has revealed that the attrition rate among MBA graduates hired directly from campus was the highest across disciplines in 2023, with the highest one-year (40%) and two-year (38%) attrition rates. Infant attrition was the highest among Graduate in Management (BBA / BCom /others) degree holders, with 33% of fresh hires leaving organisations in less than a year of joining. However, the survey showed a reduction in attrition rates from 2022, with MBA hires from Top-10 and Tier-1 colleges attriting at 24% (infant), 40% (one-year), and 38% (two-year) in 2023.

    From 2024-25 session, all medical colleges to be rated on quality of medical education

    Starting from the 2024-25 academic session, both government and private medical colleges in India will be rated based on the quality of education they provide. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has entered into an agreement with the Quality Council of India (QCI) to assess the ratings of medical institutions.

    Online and distance education institutions may be included in NIRF ranking

    The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) is currently reviewing the parameters for the rankings and a new category is likely to be added for open universities and language universities. The committee is also exploring the possibility of introducing sustainability rankings to assess the environmental and social impacts of higher education institutions.
