Posters put up at various police stations in Delhi to create awareness on new criminal laws
New criminal laws in India have taken effect, and posters have been put up in police stations to inform the public. The Indian Penal Code, CrPC, and Indian Evidence Act have been replaced with Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, respectively. These new codes introduce significant changes, including new crimes, increased penalties, and provisions for crimes against women and children. Terrorism is now explicitly defined and heavily penalized. Victims' rights have been enhanced, ensuring free access to FIRs and updates on investigations.

We were not unique in choosing 'simplicity' for our wedding. Most of our friends, Bengali and otherwise, had relatively straightforward weddings too, back in the day. Overseas Indians parked $1 billion in NRI deposits in April
During the month a bigger chunk was garnered under the NRE (RA) with deposits worth $583 million, while $483 million flows were in FCNR(B) scheme. In addition to these two schemes, NRIs also park funds in NRO or non-resident ordinary deposit schemes. The funds in these schemes are meant for local use by the NRI and repatriable upto a certain limit. About $27 billion is the outstanding amount parked in this scheme compared to the outstanding amount of $99 billion in NRE(RA) and $26 billion in FCNR(B).
