    Ladakh Lok Sabha Result 2024: Independent candidate Mohmad Haneefa wins

    Independent candidate Mohmad Haneefa secured victory in the Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency, triumphing over Congress rival Tsering Namgyal by 27,906 votes. Haneefa garnered 65,303 votes, while Namgyal received 37,397 votes, and BJP's Tashi Gyalson got 31,956 votes in the three-way race. Haneefa, a former National Conference district president, is the fourth independent to win the seat since its establishment in 1967.

    The Leh administration has sought the army's help in sanitising the area in Lukung village of eastern Ladakh, where two labourers were killed in a mine blast earlier this week. The area is believed to have unexploded shells planted during the India-China war of 1962.

    First batch of e-buses rolled out in Kargil

    The first batch of four electric buses has been rolled out in Kargil as part of an initiative to transform Ladakh into a carbon-neutral Union Territory. The buses, provided by SIDCO Transport, Ladakh, are aimed at reducing carbon emissions and providing better public transportation facilities. One bus will operate within Kargil town, another will travel from Kargil to Sankoo, and two buses will operate on the Kargil-Leh route.
