Former India Football captain Bhaichung Bhutia lost the Barfung Assembly constituency to SKM's Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia. The Citizen Action Party - Sikkim candidate in Barfung constituency got 656 votes. SKM candidate won with 8,358 votes; BJP nominee received only 298 votes. Bhaichung Bhutia joined the SDF and merged Hamro Sikkim Party with SDF.
