    Nagaland local body elections see 80% voter turnout despite ENPO boycott call

    State Election Commissioner (SEC) T. John Longkumer reported that no votes were cast in the six eastern Nagaland districts due to the boycott call by the ENPO. Longkumer stated, "Earlier 79 candidates from these six districts filed their nominations, but they later withdrew their candidatures. No candidate is contesting in the town councils in eastern Nagaland, where ENPO gave a vote boycott call in support of their statehood demand for 'Frontier Nagaland Territory'."

    ECI sets ball rolling for J&K polls, orders electoral rolls' revision

    The full Election Commission of India (ECI) - chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar and election commissioners Sukhbir S Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar - is expected to visit J&K in July or early August for a ground review of electoral preparedness. The ECI has already begun moving the poll process. On Friday, the poll panel announced that it was set to conduct the second special summary revision (SSR) for updation of electoral rolls in the states of Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and UT of Jammu & Kashmir on July 1.

    Labour Codes: Secy to meet officials to take stock of state rules

    The BJP-led NDA government is preparing to implement the four labour codes and will hold a meeting on June 20 with state labour secretaries and commissioners to review state rules. The aim is to align state rules with the Centre's model rules to ensure uniformity. Labour reforms are part of the government's 100-day agenda to enhance ease of doing business and attract investments. The government consolidated 29 central labour laws into four codes, with most states having framed rules across these codes.
