UDUPI: In a fire mishap, four students of Valmiki Ashram School in Hebri sustained burn injuries.
The incident took place on Wednesday when children were burning waste. A sanitizer bottle caught fire injuring four children, including Shrinivas, Amarish, students of class four, Vinod and
Manoj, students of class five. Children were shifted to the government hospital in Udupi immediately.
Meanwhile, one of the students was shifted to a private hospital in Manipal.
Hebri police said a case under Section 338 of the IPC (causing grievous hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life) has been registered. Case has been registered against the cook and warden of the Ashram School, police said.
Hebri gram panchayat president Malathi and vice-president Ganesh Kumar visited the school and demanded action against the accused.
