"
Integrity, consistency, empathy, relentless determination, self humility, binding moral compass and the ability to motivate masses within the ethical and ideological framework of politics are the most relevant leadership attributes in today’s world.” said, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, while delivering Dr. Pandit Mohan Lal Memorial Virtual Lecture on, ‘Leadership in the new world’.
Dr. Ashwani stated that the new world in which life will be re-engineered and adapted to unprecedented changes will need extraordinary leadership that can apply knowledge of the new age to the challenges of the future within a moral framework which celebrates freedom and fairness as cherished values. Leadership is about giving hope in the future to the marginalized, respecting escalations, and mediating amongst competing views to form a sustainable political consensus through powerful messages.
Leaders must mold the collective reflection of people and flesh out a vision befitting the task at hand, reconciling power, and public sentiment in a world scarred by conflict and injustice. There is an overall decline in the level of politics these days which weakens the democratic structure. True leadership is about investing in politics with a high moral purpose. Wide vision, gracious speech, feeling heart, and dynamism are the core qualities of leadership. A leader cannot remain indifferent to injustice. The ability to stand up against injustice is the highest attribute to leadership. The younger generation aspiring to lead will have to overcome many challenges at global and national boundaries for elevating leadership for a happy and secure future. The lecture was a source of inspiration as it presented a challenging theme for the young generation wishing to shape a better future for this country. The event concluded with bhajans and devotional songs sung by the students.
