Punjab excise policy aims at over ₹10k cr revenue
CHANDIGARH: Punjab cabinet on Saturday approved the state’s excise policy for 2024-25, setting an excise revenue target of Rs 10,146 crore. Rejigging the policy, the state government has decided to increase the number of groups to bring in more bidders and hold of draw of lots for fresh allotment of retail vends. The prices of imported foreign liquor (IFL) are likely to come down while there will be no increase in the price of country liquor.
Finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the AAP government was set to achieve a “historic” revenue collection target of Rs 10,146 crore with this policy.
