CHANDIGARH: Residents can expect some respite from the heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a partly cloudy sky with likely thundery development and light
rain on Monday, with no heatwave conditions over the next five days.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature rose from 42.4 degrees Celsius to 43.0 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature went a few notches up from 27.7 degrees Celsius to 29.3 degrees Celsius.
The maximum humidity rose to 53% from 45% on Sunday. "Whenever cloudy sky-like conditions are there, variation from ground goes and remains in air, resulting in warm night conditions," IMD director AK Singh said.
Over the next five days, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to stay between 40-42 degrees Celsius and 28-30 degrees Celsius. Heatwave conditions are n ot predicted during this period.
Chandigarh is expected to experience an above-normal monsoon, with the expected onset date in the last week of June. Based on current trends, it could arrive in the last days of June.
