MADURAI: The Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Monday sought the English translation of Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi NEET question papers in a case that sought cancellation of NEET and making medical admissions based on marks of the higher secondary examination.
AR Messiah Mary of Pudukottai filed the petition for her MBBS aspirant daughter. The petition came up before justice S S Sundar on Monday.
The petitioner side said the CBSE conducted NEET on May 7.However, it did not set a uniform question paper in the country which is against the object of the scheme of uniform examination. The questions set in languages of Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi were simple. In Tamil Nadu, questions asked in Tamil were easier than those in English.
The object of the common entrance test is to pick up meritorious students for admission. However, the object was defeated, the petitioner said and demanded to cancel the NEET.
Following this, the court directed the petitioner to produce the translated copies of Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi question papers and also directed the central and state governments to file their replies on June 12.
It may be recalled that a batch of two petitions were already filed in the high court bench against NEET. The court stayed all proceedings relating to the NEET till June 7.
