Notorious burglar caught red-handed
Coimbatore: The Mahalingapuram police on Wednesday arrested a burglar, who is facing more than 60 cases across Tamil Nadu.
The arrested person was identified as K Lakshmanan, 44, of Aranthangi in Pudukkottai. “He is facing a robbery case in Negamam police station and came to Pollachi from Pudukkottai on Tuesday to attend court proceedings. He stole a moped, which was parked on the Pollachi government hospital premises on Tuesday night, reached Puliyampatti around 2am on Wednesday and broke open a tea shop to steal 1,270, CCTV cameras and locks and keys of the shop,” a police officer said.
Special sub-inspector Jothimani and constable Kottaisamy found him near Mahalingapuram roundtana around 4.50am."He tried to escape on the moped, but the cops gave a chase and caught him from Cheran Nagar, which is 2km away. They seized a bag containing the stolen money, a monkey cap, gloves, hacksaw blades and other tools from him,” a police officer said.
Lakshmanan was remanded in judicial custody.
