An enchanting evening of Bharatanatyam, Nritya-Ganga and contemporary dance was celebrated in traditional style at Gomant Vidya Niketan in Margao.
Titled Advancing Horizons, the event was a dream for Bharatanatyam dancers who honoured legendary guru Dr Sucheta Chapekar with the Sangeet Natak Academy Award.
Choreographer Sachika Almeida termed Dr Chapekar as, “A healer and guru in every sense of the term.” Artists Pratibha Karlik, Nilima Dhumkar, Sunil Awchat and Arum Kumar were felicitated by Dr Subodh Kerkar from Saligao while Tanvi Dhatikar, Maitreyee Mordekar and Dr Kadambari Kulkarni praised the legendary dancers career.At the event, Dr Chapekar said, “What is classical is not technique but what you think internally.
Thought is what makes your technique aesthetically rich.” This was evident in her passionate performances that were well received by the audience. The last dance of the evening titled Four Seasons, was choreographed by Sachika Almeida. The evening was overall classic, and the performances just added to the fervour.
