2 held in murder of SSI’s son,fallout of love triangle claimed

Kanpur: A love triangle was behind the murder of a 22-year-old son of a senior sub-inspector whose body with strangulation marks was found in Ram Ganga canal in Sachendi area of the district on April 7.
Two men, Abhay Pratap Singh and Amit Yadav, arrested on Monday, have revealed that they had killed Rishabh at the behest of their friend Tipu Sahu, because he and Tipu were in love with the same girl.
Police said Rishabh, son of a sub-inspector Rakesh Kumar Singh posted in Bhognipur police station of Kanpur dehat district, and a resident of Damodar Nagar area of Barra, was in love with a teenage girl hailing from Mahoba district.
Tipu of Bhatipura locality of Mahoba district was also in a relationship with the same girl. Tipu was irked after coming to know about Rishabh’s proximity with the girl.
He then decided to eliminate Rishabh with the help of three of his friends, Abhay Pratap, Amit Yadav and Taufeeq, all natives of Mahoba.
On April 6, Tipu over some pretext called Rishabh out of his house. He then made him sit in a Scorpio and took him to a desolate spot. Later, there was an argument during which he strangled him to death.
Police said that Rishabh collapsed and succumbed. Tipu, with the help of his aides, then threw Rishabh’s body in Ram Ganga canal in Sachendi and fled.
The police tracked the mobile phone of the girl and subsequently achieved a breakthrough into the case.
Abhay Pratap and Amit have confessed to the crime. “The police are now looking for the main accused Tipu Sahu and his other aide Taufeeq, who are on the run,” said deputy commissioner of police (South) Sankalp Sharma.
He further said, “Two mobile phones, a Scorpio vehicle, besides the Aadhaar card of Rishabh were recovered from the possession of those arrested.”
