Light rains make way for heavy waterlogging

Lucknow: City residents woke up to light rainfall on Friday morning. However, the showers were enough to convert a few areas into poools due to clogged drains.
The areas affected included Aliganj, Chandganj, Nirala Nagar, Eldeco, Mahanagar, Gomtinagar, Gomtinagar Extension and Indira Nagar.
While roads were submerged at a few places, at several areas roadsides were filled with water.Locals said that clogged drains prevented rainwater from flowing out. Waterlogging also caused traffic congestion at some places. Mohit Sinha (34), a resident of the Gomtinagar extention said, “I get late to my office everytime when it rains as it is difficult to pass the area on a two-wheeler.”
Nivedan Pandey (50), of Chandganj, said, “Despite many complaints, LMC has not taken action.”
