LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that from being a pharma consumer state, Uttar Pradesh was fast moving towards becoming a major producer and exporter of pharmaceutical products.
Laying the foundation stone for a pharmacy building at the Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur, the CM said that the govt was building a Pharma Park spread over 2,000 acre in Lalitpur and was also planning to develop a Medical Device Park.
“Barring the reluctance and lack of determination of the then state leadership to develop UP, the state has had all the resources to push it to this level of development. The state is the same, the people are the same, the machinery is also the same. But when the work culture changes, results become evident. Today, UP has emerged as a new and transformed state. It has become a state of progress and investment. There are ample opportunities and possibilities for progress in every sector,” the CM said.
While distributing smartphones and tablets to students, the CM said that they should be enterprising enough to grab every opportunity that comes their way as it was only with faith and perseverance that one could think of achieving the impossible.
Elaborating on the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme under which he distributed phones and tablets, the CM said that this was being done to make youth technologically competent. Around two crore youth would be given phones and tablets under this scheme, the CM said, adding that the devices would incorporate vital govt initiatives, aimed at fostering self-reliance in the youth.
“By becoming technically competent, the youth will move forward and contribute in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. Technically skilled youth will play a significant role in building a developed India,” the CM said.

Reflecting on the legacy of Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the Benaras Hindu University, the CM said that the university, named in his honour, was consistently making strides towards success. In line with the PM’s vision of self-reliance, it was building the pharmacy with its own resources, the CM said.
