The University Grants Commission (UGC), in a public notice issued on April 17, said that admissions to NMIMS' open and distance learning programmes for three academic sessions - January-February 2023, July-August 2023 and January-February 2024 - have been debarred.

MUMBAI: The University Grants Commission (UGC), in a public notice issued on April 17, said that admissions to NMIMS' open and distance learning programmes for three academic sessions - January-February 2023, July-August 2023 and January-February 2024 - have been debarred.
The notice mentioned that the university did not adhere to UGC regulations and is in gross violations with regard to functioning of the internal quality assurance, quality of self-learning material, not following the refund policy recommended by the UGC, among others.The decision to ban admissions was taken in a meeting held on February 23 this year. It will be allowed to take admissions for July-August 2024 session only after on-site inspection.
The notice advises general public to not take admission in any course offered by the university in distance and online mode. A statement released by the university, said they are in the process of examining the notice and working with all concerned authorities to address the issue and resolve it at the earliest.
