NEW DELHI: The Madhepura constituency is one of the 40 parliamentary seats in the state of Bihar, holding a general category parliamentary seat status and boasting a literacy rate of 42.02%. The Madhepura constituency went to the polls on May 7 in the phase 3 of the Lok Sabha elections of 2024.
From this constituency, the key contenders were Md Arshad Hussain from the Bahujan Samaj Party, Dinesh Chandra Yadav from the Janata Dal (United), and Da Kumar Chandradeep from the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Last updated on June 4, at 10:00amIn the 2019 elections, Dinesh Chandra Yadav of the Janata Dal (United) emerged victorious with 623,460 votes, securing 54.4% of the votes. The runner-up was Sharad Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, who secured 322,410 votes, accounting for 28.1% of the votes.
In the 2014 elections, Rajesh Ranjan @ Pappu Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal won the Lok Sabha election by securing 368,876 votes, capturing 36.4% of the votes. The runner-up was Sharad Yadav of the Janata Dal (United), who secured 312,711 votes, accounting for 30.9% of the votes.
According to the 2011 census, the rural population dominates this constituency, making up around 91.4% of the total electorate, while urban voters constitute around 8.6%. During the 2019 Parliamentary Election, the voter turnout in the Madhepura constituency was recorded at 60.5%.
