VADODARA: In yet another instance of raising security concern for teachers at M S University (MSU), a former student threatened and abused the principal of MSU`s Baroda Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya on Tuesday.
Although principal Yogesh Oza had denied ex-student Gopal Dave entry in his cabin, he barged in and started heated arguments over delay in announcement of results.
Dave allegedly abused the principal.
According to sources, Dave, a student of MA (II) (Acharya), had failed last year. He had appeared for the October exams of which results are yet to be declared.
"This is the fourth time that this former student misbehaved with me. Earlier, I was sympathetic but on Tuesday, he physically assaulted me on the college premises in front of other teachers. And hence I have not only submitted a written complaint to MSU vice-chancellor professor Ramesh Goyal and university registrar but have also lodged a complaint with Sayajigunj police station," Oza told TOI, adding that the student has been falsely blaming authorities for his poor results. "As per rules, if a student believes that he has been wrongly failed in the exams, the student has the right to apply for re-assessment. But in this particular case, this student has not even opted for that."
Oza has further stated in his complaint that Dave had first threatened him of dire consequences and later followed him on his way home from the college two months ago. MSU vice-chancellor Ramesh Goyal who had rushed to the college after being informed about the incident, has assured Oza that a security guard will be provided at the college premises.
"I am also going to take up the matter with the Baroda University Teachers Association (BUTA) as this also relates to protection and safety of teachers on the campus," said Oza.
