Exclusive: My characters are strongly rooted to content: Tabla Nani

Actor Tabla Nani - who has acted in over 100 films in Kannada, predominantly in comic roles, in a career spanning over 1.5 decades - is now getting lead roles in films like KEB Kempanna, Mission Possible, RC brothers, Dove Master and Nanagu Hendthi Beku.
Talking about his journey in the Kannada film industry, Nani says, “For the first 100 films, I was a supporting actor. It was with Chemistry of Kariyappa that I started getting strong roles which are rooted to quality content.This is helping me prove my mettle as a versatile actor. I have just signed a new movie titled Nanagu Hendthi Beku, which has shades of Eddelu Manjunatha, in which I play a visually-impaired man who struggles to find a life partner. His contention is that when mindless people get married, why can't a blind man find a girl? Dove Master explores my relationship with a pet, and in KEB Kempanna, I play a responsible father who gets upset when the predictions of an astrologer about his son go wrong, but he expresses his emotions in a hilarious way. In RC Brothers, I essay the role of an elder brother in a family.”
On working with young directors, Nani, who is happy with the way his career is shaping up, shares, “My career has taken a fresh turn as I am flooded with offers for lead characters. This makes me excited to work with young directors who have refreshing ideas; their perspective towards a subject and the fact that they give priority to the content, without heeding to commercial formulas, is what I like most about young directors."
Sharing his thoughts about OTT platforms, he adds, “It’s a good thing, as it gives a platform to content creation. Change is a constant thing and we need to accept it.
